Figs in port wine
Preparation
These port wine figs are absolutely delicious. You should leave them in the glasses for about 10 weeks.
1. Wash and cut the figs in quaters.
2. Cut in half the star anise and in thirds the cinnamon sticks and vanilla beans.
3. Sterilize your glasses. Spread the figs and the spices equally in them.
4. Heat up slowly the port wine, red wine and cane sugar together so the cane sugar dissolves completely.
5. Fill the glasses where you hav already placed your figs and spices with the wine sirup ( 1 cm underneath the top) and glose your glasses tight.
6. Place your glases for 30 min in the preheated oven with 90 °C to preserve the figs.
7. Take the glases out of the oven and cover them up with a blanket so the can cool down really slowly. Put them in a cool and dry place for the next ten weeks.
